Michelle Taylor-Leonardi is Coordinator at Oshkiigmong Early Learning Centre.
First and foremost I am a proud mother of three. Two sons Kane (21) and Luc (19) and a daughter Kenni-Dee (7). I graduated from Native Early Childhood Course in May of 1993. One of the first graduates of the Binoojiiyag Kinomaadwin Course at Cambrian College in Sudbury Ontario. I have been employed with Curve Lake Day Care since May of 1993. I started out as an NECE in a playroom, then was promoted to Supervisor of the Infant/Toddler Program 5 years later. I was moved over to the School Age Program and was the Supervisor of that Program for the next several years. In 2011 I was asked to be the Acting Coordinator until the position was posted. I took this role without any financial training and realized just how hard it was to be the “big boss”. I applied for the position that summer and was successful. Since I became the Coordinator, we have been working hard as a team allowing our children to teach us and we learn together. We had our named changed from Curve Lake Day Care to Oshkiigmong Early Learning Centre. I have been on this wonderful journey of Emergent Curriculum alongside the team at Oshkiigmong Early Learning Centre for the past three years. I have travelled to many First Nation Early Learning Centres showing our journey thus far. We never stop learning and our journey will never end.
