Piazza ORA 2026

with Tiziana Filippini, pedagogista from Reggio Emilia

In this, our fifth Piazza ORA series, we will explore Listening and documenting to create contexts of ethical co-existence and democracy where children and adults research and learn together.

In response to the growing interest we are witnessing in Ontario in Reggio Emilia’s pedagogy for early years, ORA is providing another extraordinary opportunity to engage with Tiziana Filippini, pedagogista from Reggio Emilia, over the course of five encounters, in Piazza ORA 2026.

Active engagement with ideas and translation to practice is essential for deeper understanding, so the series includes interim gatherings in consistent break-out groups where participants can share how their changing views are affecting what they are noticing, what they are curious about, what they are trying and understanding differently. Documentation-in-the-works will be shared among participants to invite other perspectives. In our ongoing effort to build communities of pedagogical companions, we want to strongly urge registrants to participate actively in these interim gatherings. They provide a significant opportunity to engage with other educators in exchange of views and perspectives. In Italian, the word “confronto” refers to exchanges that are based on an intention that all participants come away having moved in their view. The work of creating and reading documentation requires ongoing practice and exchange. With Tiziana’s support, we have the opportunity to get better at this.

There will be five 1.5-hour ZOOM gatherings with Tiziana beginning in January, a “pre-series gathering” of participants and pedagogical companions to set the stage, and five interim gatherings. We are grateful that again this year, Reggio Children will make a recording of the gatherings with Tiziana available to registrants online for a period of time following the live gathering in order to make it possible for everyone to participate, regardless of work schedule. This makes the series more accessible to everyone.

In order to animate our mission, we are offering a discount on registration for groups of 5 or more who will commit to grow a relationship as pedagogical companions. It is not necessary that you work in the same organization.*

All registrants must be members of ORA. Organization and Individual Memberships can be purchased by clicking here.

Registration is limited.

Orientation to the Fundamentals of the Reggio Emilia Approach

January 14, 2026 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Educators all over the world are looking to the early education philosophy created and lived daily in the northern Italian city of Reggio Emilia as a source of inspiration. In Ontario, developing deeper understanding of this pedagogy has been an ongoing pursuit for over three decades. Our early years documents are influenced by this philosophy. We wish to extend to you an opportunity to register for an Introduction to the Fundamentals of Reggio Emilia that we are offering on Zoom on January 14, 2026 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. This is a live session, and there will be an opportunity for small group conversation. Please feel welcomed to bring colleagues with you. There is no registration fee for this gathering, but it is necessary for each person to register so we can send the Zoom link to you.
