Study Week in Reggio Emilia
This unique professional learning opportunity invites educators to enter into dialogue with the teachers, pedagogistas, and atelieristas who live the educational project of Reggio Emilia each day in the municipal infant-toddler centres and preschools.
Through presentations, conversations, and visits to these learning environments, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the values, relationships, and research processes that sustain this living educational project.
Whether you are beginning your relationship with the educational project of Reggio Emilia or returning to deepen a long-standing dialogue with its ideas, this Study Week offers a meaningful opportunity to observe, reflect, exchange perspectives, and learn alongside educators from Canada and Reggio Emilia.

Early Bird Fee $2585 – available until February 1, 2027
Regular Fee $2785 – closing date April 27, 2027
Refunds are available with a $300 non-refundable fee per participant until April 15th; after that date, no refunds will be issued.

What is included?
Provided by ORA (before and during the week)
- Regular updates leading up to the Study Week and responses to participants’ questions (register to be on the mailing list on the events page of the ORA website)
- Three online orientation sessions for participants, in February, March and April
- become more familiar with the RE pedagogy as it is lived every day in the infant-toddler centres and preschools
- opportunities to meet and dialogue with other participants
- begin to form your own focus and research questions, and
- have your questions answered about the logistics of the study week and travelling in Italy
- A resource list from the ORA’s resource website, designed to support participants with background knowledge on the Reggio Emilia Approach
- Encounter the city of Reggio Emilia by participating in a walking tour – late afternoon May 23rd
- An opening reception (light lunch and refreshments, and introductory remarks) at the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre – last stop on the walking tour on May 23rd
- Dialogue and reflect in small groups of participants with an ORA liaison
- The organization of a cultural encounter in the Region of Reggio Emilia for an extra fee to attend – see below -(past encounters – Balsamic Tour, Parmesan Cheese Factory, Agritorismo)
Provided by Reggio Children (May 24-28th)
- Approximately thirty hours of professional learning
- An online space to access resources and readings, as well as the schedule for the week
- English – Italian translation as required
- Understanding of the history, identity and principles of the educational project, the essential elements of the daily life in the schools
- Presentations of the projects and documentation by the teachers, atelieristas, pedagogists of the infant toddler centres and preschools at the Loris Malaguzzi Centre
- Breaks for nutrition (mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks and lunches) at the Pause “Atelier of Tastes” in the Loris Malaguzzi Centre
- Encounter the exhibits, ateliers, the Documentation and Educational Research Centre, and the bookstore at the Loris Malaguzzi International Centre
- Visit an infant-toddler centre or preschool
- Bus transportation to the centres
- Explore the REMIDA (recycling centre)
What is not included in Study Week participation fees?
- Individuals and Groups are responsible for securing their own accommodations, flights, breakfasts and dinners (a list of some accommodation possibilities will be provided on the ORA website soon)
- The Cultural Encounter of the Region of Reggio Emilia (participants who wish to participate can sign up and pay for this experience on the ORA website – coming soon)
