Rachel Hughes

Rachel has worked as an educator for over 20 years in various locations. She graduated from the University of Victoria, BC in 2000 and began her career as an elementary school teacher. Rachel taught Grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Calgary, AB, Vancouver, BC, Monterrey, Mexico, and most recently in Toronto, ON. She has worked in a variety of school settings, including charter, public, independent and international schools. Rachel has worked at the Bishop Strachan School (BSS) in Toronto, ON since 2007. She worked as a teacher for 10 years, before assuming the position of Vice Principal of the BSS Junior School in 2017. Rachel has been immersed in the Reggio Emilia philosophy since 2007. She and her colleagues have constantly sought inspiration and guidance from the work of the children and educators in Reggio Emilia. Rachel attended the 2015 Study Tour to Reggio Emilia and is looking forward to attending the next Study Tour with a group of her BSS colleagues.
